Remote Sensing and Ecosystem Modelling (REMSEM)
The Remote Sensing and Ecosystem Modelling (REMSEM) team is part of Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBINS), Operational Directorate Natural Environment (OD Nature).
Our mission is to carry our scientific research and analysis in the field of marine ecosystems with the aim of improving the long term scientific basis for management of the marine ecosystem, particularly for Belgian waters. REMSEM specialises in the use of remote sensing and ecosystem modelling tools to achieve this goal.
Our activities range from fundamental scientific research through applied research to specific advice to governmental organisations responsible for management of the natural patrimony, in particular relating to international conventions such as the OSPAR Convention, the European Union Water Framework and Marine Strategy Framework Directives.
