Crystal Twins

This very rare and beautiful "Japanese twin” (or "Gardette twin") comes from Mount Ida in Arkansas (USA).

Even though the radiance and color of the minerals catches our eye at first, it’s their geometric shape – often very complex – that fascinates us. Twins are a perfect example of this. They are an association of crystals of the same nature, oriented in a specific way relative to each other. Depending on the orientation of the crystals, we speak of dovetail twins, butterfly twins, spearhead twins...

The diagrams and the beautiful specimens of the "Symmetry" display will help you recognize them for sure!
